Texas Tech put an end to the ongoing speculation regarding Red Raider defensive coordinator Chad Glasgow's status on head coach Tommy Tuberville's staff Thursday morning.
"Texas Tech and Chad Glasgow have reached a mutual agreement that he will no longer serve on the TTU football staff," Texas Tech spokesperson Blayne Beal said. "We begin the search for his replacement immediately."
University administrators had nothing further to say on the topic which began back on December 20 following a Twitter post by CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman reporting that Glasgow had been fired, a claim Tech continues to adamently deny. Beal says it was a mutual agreement, that no firing nor reassignment took place.
In his one season with the Red Raiders, Glasgow led a defense which finished 120th and last in the nation in rushing defense, 113th in pass efficiency defense, 115th in total defense and 117th in scoring defense.
Looking ahead to 2012, the move means Texas Tech will now operate under the reins of its fourth defensive coordinator in four years.
As of now, no one has been appointed to take over as interim defensive coordinator.
Glasgow becomes the fourth assistant to be removed from this year's 5-7 season. Tuberville fired offensive line coach Matt Moore and cornerbacks coach Otis Mounds while defensive line coach Sam McElroy was reassigned.
